I first met Kathryn Tomajan of Fat Gold around 2005 when I was looking to source a Californian olive oil for Eccolo, the restaurant I was running. At the time, Kathryn was working with the California Olive Oil Council as an educator. In the years since, I’ve sat alongside her on tasting panels at the Good Food Awards, and cheered on her and her partner Robin Sloan as they founded Fat Gold and quickly made a name for themselves with their peerless oils. The rich, clean flavors of Fat Gold oils make them some of my favorite finishing oils. —Samin
